Interesting question. To kick the ball into play --

1. Introduction of armored ships.
2. Introduction of submersible vessels.
3. Use of torpedoes.
4. The last wide-scale use of the "line of battle" tactic.
5. Extensive use of rifled cannon.
6. First effective organization of an army field medical corps, with surgeons and hospital stewards assigned to regimental level; introduction of triage, medical evacuation procedures; etc., etc. (you can always tell an ex-corpsman)
