Confederate Pension Application Where Is It Located??Posted by Lou on July 22, 2001 at 10:29:26: I am "trying" to locate the Confederate Widow's Penson Application that my ancestor, Sarah A Burt applied for is located. Her husband, Singleton S. Burt served in the Confederate Army in Arkansas. This sounds simple enough but she lived in Indian Territory at the time she applied. I have the application number, and the year she applied was in 1896 but not the state. I have tried to find the application in Oklahoma & Arkansas. It seems I am doing something wrong or once they see she lived in the Indian Territory, the wheels seem to stop. I have found that many people that lived in Indian Territory of Oklahoma did business in Arkansas, and records are housed in Arkansas. I know that the southern states hold the Confederate records for their state but is it possible that any or some of these Confederate records could be in the National Archives?? If anyone can see or have an idea of what I'm doing wrong in this search, could you please let me know what it may be? Thank you for your time, and/or any response. Lou
