Telegraph Tree
This post oak (quercus stellata) tree is the last remaining support for the
telegraph line which connected Little Rock and Fort Smith on what was known as
the wire road.
The telegraph line connecting the two cities was installed in the fall of
1861 in the hectic early days of the Civil War.
