Actually, I believe the 3rd Arkansas Cavalry (CSA) was remounted in November of 1862. Following the Battle of Thompson's Station in March of 1863 the were reasigned Under N.B. Forrest. They remained under him until he transfered to Mississippi in September of 1863. In November of 1863 they were assigned to Harrison's Brigade of Armstrong's Division in Wheeler's Cavalry Corps. They served in this Brigade as cavalry until the end of the war.

Hey Folks,

I am new here, and just found this post. seems as though it is a response to another post or posts that I haven't seemed to locate just yet. LOL

Richard Ledbetter wrote a paper-bound book on his Grandfather's service under Forrest in Tennessee. His grandfather was from Cleveland County in south Arkansas, ans enlisted with his brother at Mount Elba, on the Saline River. The book title is "The Branch and the Vine". It may have more information concerning the 3rd Arkansas that may be of interest to you.
